As part of its long-term commitment to mangrove restoration and coastal community empowerment, Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) is developing a targeted communication strategy that amplifies the ecological and socio-economic value of mangrove ecosystems in the Bangka Belitung Islands. YKAN believes that when managed sustainably, mangroves not only restore degraded ecosystems and contribute to climate resilience, but also offer alternative and sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities, reducing reliance on extractive industries such as mining and palm oil.
To support this initiative, O2 Consulting facilitated a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with key stakeholders from government, businesses, academia, media, and local communities. The FGD aimed to gather insights and map out perspectives related to the sustainable management of mangroves and the enhancement of coastal livelihoods in the region. The discussion also serves as a foundation to craft an effective and inclusive communication strategy that resonates with target audiences and supports multi-stakeholder collaboration.
